Bronte Country - and Further Afield
If you don’t want to travel by car there are literally miles of wonderful walks in the area which can be taken right from the cottage doorstep. Although we are situated in an idyllic countryside location we are centrally placed to visit the many places of interest nearby.
Haworth, once the home of the Brontes with its famous cobbled Main Street and evocative moorland, is only 4 miles away. Near Haworth are the Bronte Waterfall and Top Withens which is said to be the inspiration for the Emily Bronte novel Wuthering Heights.
Skipton, the famous market town and gateway to the dales is only 8 miles away.
Also around 8 miles away on the Yorkshire side of the Pennines is Hebden Bridge, recently voted the best town in Britain for its selection of independent shops.
A little further afield there's the World Heritage Site of Saltaire, Harrogate, York, Herriot Country and the Yorkshire Dales to name just a few.
The local pub which is a traditional country pub with log fires in winter serves delicious food and is one and a half miles away.
The nearest shop is 3 miles away or 4 miles into Keighley which has the usual range of shops, a market and 3 large supermarkets.
For local transport the bus is one and half miles away and Keighley Train Station is 4 miles away with trains to Leeds, Bradford and Skipton every half an hour on weekdays. The journey on the famous Settle to Carlisle railway which travels over the Ribblehead Viaduct can be picked up from Keighley Station.
